Following a brief career in the oil industry, Simon qualified as a solicitor in 1980 and moved from Bristol to Reading where he joined a new practice in which he became an equity partner in 1982. He became the senior partner in 1985 and changed the name of the firm to Barrett & Co, which continues to be the name under which it trades.

Simon stepped down as senior partner in 2012, after 27 years. He remained with the firm as a consultant until the beginning of 2016 when he left to set up a new practice concentrating on corporate law – SAB Corporate Services Ltd.

Simon is also a founding director and solicitor in BWH Legal, specialising in Property law. SAB Corporate and BWH Legal operate from the same premises and Simon will continue to conduct his corporate work through SAB Corporate and his Property work, both residential and commercial, through BWH Legal.

Simon has a wealth of experience in Property law, both residential and commercial, freehold and leasehold, and in development site acquisitions, plot sale and disposals.
